The Reason Why Prince Harry Doesn’t Really Like Donald TrumpJune 1, 2019
The president of the USA, Trump is expected to meet Harry on his three-day visit next week.
Mr Trump will join the Queen for a lunch at Buckingham Palace on Monday, and the Duke of Sussex will also be there.
Things could be a little awkward between the two men, as it’s been reported that the President pursued Princess Diana, following her divorce from Prince Charles in 1996.
“Selina Scott says that Donald Trump absolutely bombarded Princess Diana with flowers and invitations to meet, so there’s a reason for Harry to think he’s a super-creep and not really want to meet him,” Daisy McAndrew told Yahoo UK’s ‘The Royal Box.’
Broadcaster and journalist Selina Scott was one of Diana’s closest confidants. She wrote about in The Sunday Times in 2015, about Mr Trump’s advances towards Princess Diana, when he was still married to Marla Maples.
She said: “Trump clearly saw Diana as the ultimate trophy wife. As the roses and orchids piled up at her apartment she became increasingly concerned about what she should do. It had begun to feel as if Trump was stalking her.”
She claimed that Diana said, “he gives me the creeps.”
The President of the USA then made shocking comments about how he could have slept with the princess.
The interview took place with Howard Stern, just weeks after Diana’s death in 1997.
Mr Stern asked Mr Trump: “Why do people think it’s egotistical of you to say you could’ve gotten with Lady Di? You could’ve gotten her, right? You could’ve nailed her.”
Mr Trump replied: “I think I could have.”
The then-business mogul also made distasteful comments on Twitter about the Duchess of Cambridge in 2012, after photographs of her sunbathing topless were published in a French magazine.
He tweeted: “Kate Middleton is great–but she shouldn’t be sunbathing in the nude–only herself to blame.”
He also posted another tweet saying: “Who wouldn’t take Kate’s picture and make lots of money if she does the nude sunbathing thing. Come on Kate!”
The Duchess of Sussex will not be meeting the US President during his state visit. She is currently on maternity leave after giving birth to her son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on May 6.
McAndrew also says that the Duchess tried to avoid Mr Trump when she was working on Deal or No Deal as a briefcase girl in 2006.
She said: “Donald Trump came on to publicize The Apprentice. One of her [Meghan’s] fellow briefcase girls said he was ‘super creepy’ and started inviting all the briefcase girls out and that Meghan thought he was a creep and decided not to go.”
